Rather than electing Police Commissioners as some have suggested, the whole system of police accountability needs to be improved. The Criminal Justice system exists for a very specific purpose, to reduce crime, and to cut reoffending.
That is the best way to protect the public and make our streets and communities safer places. That is why i worked with David Blunket MP on his report "A People's Police Force - Police Accountability in the Modern Era".
