Non-devolved Casework

Photo of caseworkers Sheryl ChrisSo your concern is probably classed as a Member of Parliament’s casework. You need to contact my Cardiff office, which is staffed by my caseworker, Sheryl Edwards.

Because I have to deal with so many constituency issues, it is impossible for me to personally follow up every single case. A great deal of work goes through the constituency office. So, to provide an immediate response wherever possible, Sheryl is my trusted representative and has great skill and experience in dealing with casework. She regularly discusses the handling of cases with me and makes the necessary arrangements when I have to intervene personally and/or meet the constituent for a personal interview. Please note that your case will be dealt with as soon as possible.

How to contact me

1. Write to me

You can write to me at the following address and expect to receive a response.

Alun Michael MP,

Please note:

  • It may take a little time to deal with your concern – working with government departments and organisations can often be a lengthy process. Please be patient;
  • you can maximise the efficiency with which your concern is addressed by including as much detailed information about your case as possible;
  • correspondence is kept for a maximum of three years;
  • if you are acting as a proxy for someone else, I must have their permission before we can act on a case.
  • we comply fully with the demands of the Data Protection Act

2. Email me

I regularly check my email account, so please email me at:

Please note:

  • do not bombard this account with SPAM – this just prevents other constituents from contacting me;
  • please contact the office if you need to send large files they can block my account temporarily.

3. Phone my Cardiff Office

Feel free to phone Sheryl at my Cardiff office. She can deal with most cases and can pass on messages to me. Call: 02920 223 533

Please note:

  • my staff will do all they can to help you, but they are often under pressure to help other people too – so please treat them with respect;
  • we operate an answerphone service - if there is no answer, please leave a message and you will be contacted as soon as possible.

4. Arrange to attend one of my surgeries

If you need a personal discussion, I run regular surgeries in the constituency. A surgery appointment should be made after you have made contact with my casework staff. In most cases, even if a personal discussion is needed, it helps to know something about the problems you face in order to obtain relevant information or make initial enquiries before I meet you. Please click to be added to the waiting list:

  • How quickly I can see you may depend on the pressures of urgent cases and the degree of urgency in your own case.
